My name is Norman Olsen and I hail from Ottawa, Ontario - Canada (currently living near Montreal). I'm a senior 3d environment artist with 23 progressive years experience making environment and prop assets that span across console and mobile games alike. While having worked at companies like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft to name a few, my goal is to continuously push myself in providing the best quality I can within the deadlines provided.

While I have majored in animation for television at Algonquin College, I have learned a tremendous amount and used this education as a key to getting my foot in the game industry door as my passion has always been video games. Once I learned 3d modelling and texturing, I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue!


Rapid fire Questions:

What is your favorite game? Which other games do you enjoy playing?

My favorite game is Witcher 3: Wild Hunt! I also enjoy the Dark Souls / Blood Bourne and Borderlands series, Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War and sim racing games like Assetto Corsa Competizione among others!

What is your favorite aspect of the 3D asset creation process?

Once the mesh's UVs are finalized and I can begin baking maps and texture painting!

What self initiatives are you taking to further your artistic career?

I am currently learning Blender as well as Python scripting in order to better harness Blender's capabilities. The goal is to make scripts that can not only automate repetitive tasks, but help set up complicated ones by simplifying the steps involved.
